Faith and feelings
In this course we will discuss the interaction between faith as a human act that demands the exercise of one’s conscience and freedom, and feelings and passions.
Cardinal Newman, while recognizing the dangers of religious emotionalism, demonstrates the importance of the help of emotions and how to act in the absence of emotions. Finally, we will discuss the importance of liturgical prayer as a guide to feelings.

Fr. Máximo Stöck

Father Maximo Stöck is a priest of the Saint John Society, ordained in 2012 in Cura Brochero, Córdoba.
He is a former student of Colegio Los Robles in Buenos Aires and after having studied philosophy at the Universidad del Norte Santo Tomás de Aquino (Buenos Aires), he continued his theology studies at Mount Angel Seminary in the State of Oregon (USA). He graduated in May 2012 with a Masters of Arts (MA) and a Masters of Divinity (MDiv) with a thesis on Antecedent Probabilities in the writings of John Henry Newman.
During 2023 he will be completing his bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Theology from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas (Rome) through the Sacred Heart Major Seminary (Detroit, USA).
As a priest of the Saint John Society, he served as chaplain of the Newman Center at Portland State University. He lived in Córdoba (Argentina) collaborating in the development of the new evangelization programs of the SSJ.
He is currently Chaplain of the Newman Center at Oregon State University, USA.
